About The Beara Quartet

Formed in 2016 on invitation to take part at the West Cork Chamber Music Festival the Beara Quartet is comprised of musicians from Dublin, Cork and Brazil. All four members have toured with the European Union Youth Orchestra and between them have studied at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, CIT Cork School of Music, the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance and the Royal Northern College of Music.

The Beara Quartet were invited to perform in the Vanbrugh Quartet Scholarship Concert in June 2016, and were honoured to play the first movement of the Mendelssohn Octet alongside the Vanbrugh Quartet.

They have performed as part of the Triskel Arts Centre Autumn Quartet series, Cork City Council ‘Classics in the Park’ and in St Colman’s Church as part of the North Cork Classical Music series. At the West Cork Chamber Music Festival they have had performances in Bantry House and St Brendan’s Hall, and received masterclasses from renowned musicians such as Lawrence Power, Nurit Stark, the Borusan Quartet, Peter Schumayer, Vivianne Hagner and members of the Vanbrugh and Doric String Quartets. The quartet chose the name ‘Beara’ after the West Cork peninsula on which Bantry Bay bounds.
